Enjoy a Successful Thanksgiving-image

Thanksgiving can be a stressful day, especially when you’re the one hosting friends and family. Thanksgiving is supposed to be a fun day, so we’ve decided to share with you some ways you can enjoy a successful Thanksgiving in this week’s Canyon Park Apartments Blog.   Make it a Potluck The largest point of stress for the Thanksgiving holiday is the amount of food that one needs to make to accommodate others. Relieve yourself of that stress by making your lunch or dinner a potluck. Invite your guests to bring their favorite side dish or dessert to complement the main dish you’ll be making. As another option, you can invite some guests over to help you prepare the meal, that way you can spend additional time with your friends as well as get the food prepared.   Get an Early Start Throwing the perfect Thanksgiving dinner/lunch can take time, so get an early start. There are a variety of ways to save you time on Thanksgiving day itself but here are some of our favorites:   Make the Gravy Early Every minute counts, so we suggest making your gravy the day before and freeze it! A flour based gravy keeps for up to 4 months in the freezer, but you’ll only need it to freeze it for the night before it all gets consumed by your hungry party.   Dice Your Vegetables the Night Before If you have any dishes that require the use of vegetables, take the time the night before to dice them up and place them in containers for easy access when you’re making your delicious meal.   Decorate! Spruce up your home before the dinner by decorating your Puyallup, WA apartment with some fun decor! Put out some pumpkins, candles, and fall wreaths to set the mood. Though a small gesture, your party will be made a little better with some fun autumn decorations!

Ways to Show Gratitude-image

Since Thanksgiving is at the end of November, you have a whole month to express your gratitude. Think about your friends and family and how they’ve impacted your lives then consider how you can give thanks and express gratitude. In this week’s Canyon Park Apartments Blog, we’ve got a few suggestions on ways you can show your gratitude.   Write a Letter In the days of emails and instant messaging, writing a letter can seem old-fashioned and a waste of time, but it’s a great way of showing thanks. Before you start writing, think of someone that you wish to thank and list out the reasons why you wish to thank them. As you write, be genuine and heartfelt. Expressing emotions through writing can be difficult, so use specific language and experiences to enhance the impact of your letter. If you’re writing to a friend or family member living far from you, mail the letter! If they live close by, you can attach the letter to a small gift and give it to them personally.   A Gratitude Journal Do you forget things often? We suggest keeping a gratitude journal to take note of things that you are grateful for. You can write one thing per day or work your way up to writing two or three. Don’t feel pressured to write down deep thoughts or huge blessings. Writing in a gratitude journal can help you see the little things to be thankful for in your life.   Small Gifts Some people are appreciative of words of thanks, but others respond better to gifts! Getting small gifts can show your friends and family how much you mean to them through a thoughtful selection of said gifts. These gifts don’t need to be extravagant, but significant enough that they feel appreciated!   Do you have any ways you like to show gratitude? Ways to Warm Up during a Cold Day-image

When the weather gets cold, you’re going to need some way to warm up so you’re not miserable. In this week’s Canyon Park Apartments Blog, we’ve compiled a few ways that you can warm up during a chilly day for you to try! Don’t get caught in the cold or put yourself in a situation to catch a cold. Hot Chocolate or Coffee The most common way to warm up, having a mug of hot chocolate can be a nice treat to get away from the cold. Whether you’re buying a cup from your local Starbucks or making some yourself, you can shirk the chills by drinking these and warming you from the inside out. An additional benefit of warm drinks is the cozy feeling that comes with the nostalgia of your favorite seasonal drinks. More Blankets If you’re at home watching some television or reading a book, the cold can creep in while you’re being static. We suggest putting out additional blankets that you can easily grab when you’re doing those activities. Keep warm by wrapping yourself in the comfort of a thick blanket to avoid the cold weather. Sweaters Much like a blanket, a sweater can be your individual body warmer. Invest in a thicker, big sweater than you can pull over your other clothes. Layering allows your body to retain warmth without having to expend extra energy. A Hot Bath Taking a hot bath is a good way to relax. Immersing yourself in hot, bubbly water fights off the chills — but don’t let the water get cold! The worst part of a hot bath is dreading getting out into the cold bathroom! Keep a heater or a warm towel ready nearby. Don’t let the cold get you down. We hope you enjoyed these tips for warming up during the cooler days. Plan and Communicate Making sure everything is planned can put your mind at ease when it comes to throwing a party. Plan out the details of the activities you’re going to be doing, music you’re going to be playing, and the food you’re going to be serving out. Once you’ve figured those details out, communicate them with your guests. Let your guests know the time, place, and any additional details (like if they need to wear a costume). Serve More than Candy Though Halloween is closely related with candy, we suggesting putting out other types of snack foods. Try some Halloween-themed snacks to add to the mood of the season, like creepy dead man’s fingers , slime aid, or spider cupcakes. Don’t forget to put out candy in strategic places so your guests can snack on them during the night. Wear Costumes! Some of your friends may consider themselves too old for costumes, but encourage them to come to your party in spooky costumes.
