Games to Play for Game Night-image

Summer is the perfect time to host a game night! This week on our Canyon Park Blog, we’ll share with you some board and card games you could try while you host a game night at your apartment in Puyallup, WA. Hanabi Do you like firework shows? In this easy-to-learn card game, band together to place your firework cards in the correct order to create a crowd-pleasing display. Oh, there’s only one catch: you can’t see your own cards! By giving clues to the other players, play your cards in the correct order — but do it quickly, before the fuse is set off!   Settlers of Catan In this fan-favorite board game, take the role of a settler establishing colonies. Your main objective is to build roads, settlements, and cities using the natural resources you have around you. Ultimately, you want to get 10 victory points. Settlers of Catan allows for you to barter and trade all that you need to in order to achieve your goals. You can be sneaky or honest, but that depends on how you want to play! This game is great for three to four players and takes approximately 45 to 90 minutes.   Betrayal at House on the Hill Take a journey through a haunted mansion and find out what’s lurking inside! Betrayal at House on the Hill starts with the exploration phase, where everyone stays on the same team and explores the house together, then moves into the haunt phase when a player triggers it. This phase has lots of scenarios that can be set off by different players. Anyone can be the “traitor”, but it’s usually the person that triggered the haunt. Follow the objectives and achieve your victory goal as either a player or the “traitor.”   Do you have a favorite group game? Let our apartment community know what it is in the comments below! Thanks for reading this week’s post, and have a great game night.

Upcoming Summer Movie Releases-image

As the month of May starts to come to an end, it’s time to start preparing for all the fun that summer will bring. This week on Canyon Park Apartments Blog, we’re here to fill you in on some of the most anticipated films coming out this summer! Make sure to see these titles at a theater near your Puyallup, WA apartment: Yesterday Imagine a world where everyone in it has lost all memory of The Beatles— well, everyone but one person. In Yesterday , follow the story of the only man on earth who remembers the music of one of the most famous bands on earth as he rises to fame using music he didn’t write in the first place. Bound to be one of the biggest hits of the summer, this film is an interesting take on what the world would look like if The Beatles had never changed the music scene forever, and how it would still have a monumental effect, even if it was released for the first time in 2019. Yesterday is in theaters everywhere June 28th! Spider-Man: Far From Home Finally, the sequel to Homecoming we’ve all been waiting for! Spider-Man: Far From Home marks the second film in Marvel’s newest Spider-Man series, starring fan favorite Tom Holland as Peter Parker. This time, the story follows Peter and his friends as they take a vacation to Europe, and of course, they meet some unexpected conflict. This time, a new villain Mysterio enters the scene, and he proves to be just as unpredictable as his name suggests. See it as early as July 5th, and be prepared for an exciting new adventure. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark Do you remember the popular children’s horror book series called Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark by Alvin Schwartz? This August, Guillermo del Toro is releasing a feature-length film based around the hair-raising stories told throughout the series. When a group of small-town teenagers discovers an old book filled with scary stories transcribed by a young girl from the past with horrifying secrets to tell. To their surprise, the stories start to come to life around them. Don’t miss this spooky film, out on August 9th. Where’d You Go, Bernadette Even though Bernadette, mother of a young girl called Bee, seems to have it all, she doesn’t seem satisfied with anything in her life. After she suddenly disappears, Bee and her father embark on an adventure in hopes of cracking the case of their missing wife and mother. Ideas for Memorial Day Weekend-image

Do you have any plans for Memorial Day weekend yet? If not, never fear! Canyon Park Blog is here to give you a few ideas. Take advantage of the long weekend by doing one of the following at or near your Puyallup, WA apartment: Take a Weekend Trip You have just enough time before the long weekend arrives to plan a weekend trip to a nearby area you’ve been meaning to visit. You might be in the mood to spend most of the weekend in nature doing things like camping and hiking. Instead, you might prefer to find a cozy Airbnb and spend your afternoons exploring the local shops in a small city you’ve never been to before. Whatever you are looking for this weekend, there are plenty of options outside of Puyallup — especially if you act now! Visit a Graveyard For some of you, it might be a Memorial Day tradition to visit a graveyard to bring flowers to the graves of relatives and other loved ones, and especially the ones who served our country. If you don’t have any known relatives buried nearby, you might consider bringing flowers to a local cemetery anyway and putting them on the remaining empty headstones in the graveyard. Even if you aren’t able to pay respect to your own relatives, it’s a great opportunity to pay respect to someone else who used to be a member of this wonderful community. Plan a Picnic Looking to get together with friends or family? If so, we recommend planning a picnic! You could give everyone a simple food assignment to bring like chips, fruit, or dessert, and then offer to plan the main dish. Rather than going all out, keep it simple; sandwiches always make a tasty picnic food. If you feel comfortable enough around those you have invited, you might consider taking turns telling a story about someone you’re thinking about this Memorial Day. If not, it’s always a safe bet to play some entertaining games instead. Have a Movie Marathon Maybe this Memorial Day weekend, you’d just rather stay inside. If this is the case, why not have a movie marathon? Consider picking a theme for your marathon, like 90’s romcoms, Alfred Hitchcock films, or Marvel movies. If you’re in the mood for a variety, pick out what you’d like to watch a few days beforehand so that you won’t have to waste any time deciding when the time comes to curl up on the couch and binge. Do you have any other ideas in mind for Memorial Day weekend? Share your plans with our apartment community in the comments below!
