Films to See This Fall-image

Canyon Park Apartments Blog officially welcomes you to the fall season! We hope this season brings with it new opportunities and adventures here in Puyallup, WA. To get you ready for some of the best new entertainment over the next few months, today’s post is dedicated to must-see films coming to a theater near you! Whether you prefer biopics, dramas, supervillain flics, or well-anticipated sequels, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this season. Don’t miss the following movies:   Joker - October 4th After a variety of different actors playing the role of Joker over the years, Joaquin Phoenix settles in as the newest one to take on the challenge — this time, in the first-ever movie centered around the supervillain himself. Watch the Joker become the notoriously wicked character as he falls further into mental insanity.  Harriet - November 1st This season of biopics brings the story of one of America’s greatest heroes to the big screen: Harriet Tubman. Cynthia Erivo plays Harriet, depicting her time freeing countless slaves through the Underground Railroad. Of this, she says, “I want to make sure that people get to see this woman as a woman, as a human. She was a superhero, but she was heart first.” Honey Boy - November 8th Upon receiving raving reviews at Sundance, Shia LeBeouf’s semi-autobiographical film makes its way to theaters this November. In this surrealist film, join Lucas Hedges as he portrays a character facing a messy relationship with his father, navigating fame blindly, and battling with PTSD.  Frozen II - November 22nd Get ready for the most anticipated sequel of the year! In this second installment of the wildly successful animated feature from 2013, Frozen, Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven are at it again as they venture out of Arendelle to try and locate the original source of Elsa’s powers. With the fate of the whole kingdom on the line, Frozen II is sure to entertain fans both young and old. Plus, it hits theaters just in time for Thanksgiving!  Which new release are you most excited for this fall? Let our community know by leaving a comment below.

Get Ready for Autumn-image

The weather is going to start turning colder as fall comes around. There are plenty of things you can do to prepare yourself for the impending weather and change of season, and we’ve got a short list you can check off in this week’s Canyon Park Apartments Blog. Get yourself prepared and actually enjoy the fall as it comes! Apartment Your home is a good place to start when it comes to preparation for the change in weather. Instead of fans and air conditioning, you may want to opt for warm blankets and house slippers. Break out the cozy blankets and comfortable pillows. If you’re looking to give your home a style overhaul, you can try out Hygge, the Danish concept that incorporates comfort, coziness, and warmth.  Clothing The weather is going to start getting colder, so prepare yourself by investing in some warm clothing! Because it’s the beautiful state of Washington, you’ll want to consider clothing that is warm as well as water-resistant. Keep in mind that wool is your best friend during the colder months, and if you aren’t able to purchase any new, fancy clothing, remember that you can layer to keep yourself warm. Scarves, gloves, and sweaters are all good choices to keep yourself warm!  Clean Up Since you’re going to be experiencing a change in season, it’s a good time to do some cleaning up! Cleaning shouldn’t be strictly restricted to the spring, so take some time to go through your things to place them in storage and throw some useless items away. Do a once over of your Puyallup apartment with cleaning supplies, then organize your closets to make your fall and winter clothing more accessible. Do you have any tips for preparing for the fall? Share them with our apartment community by leaving a comment! Thank you for reading.

National Self-Improvement Month-image

Improving yourself emotionally, mentally, physically, or any other way you see fit is a lifelong quest that we should all be paying attention to for a better and more fulfilled life, in or out of our apartments in Puyallup, WA. Today, Canyon Park Apartments Blog has ideas for how you can re-dedicate yourself to improving yourself, this month (it is National Self-Improvement Month, after all!) and always. Prioritize self-care. Self-care isn’t just bubble baths and face masks. These things may be important to you — and if they are, that’s great! But self-care can also mean drinking water throughout the day, practicing positive and constructive self-talk, expanding your social circle, letting yourself take naps when you need to, talking to a friend when you’re struggling, saying “no” to commitments when you have too much on your plate, or otherwise doing what you need to relax and rejuvenate. Work on a Skill Developing your skills is a great way to boost your confidence and to learn new things about yourself and the world around you. Keep up your talents by sharing them with others or by even making a commission off of them, if that’s what you want. Try something new to exercise your mind and possibly even your body to grow in healthy ways. Learn from others. Interpersonal connection is an important part of your social health, so don’t forget to connect with others as you’re striving to improve yourself. You can do this formally by hiring a life coach or personal trainer, but you can also simply focus on being extra aware of others. Ask those who inspire you about their life, struggles, ways of coping, successes, or even sources of inspiration. You never know how your life will change for the better for establishing and strengthening your relationships. How do you approach self-improvement? Share your best personal reflection tips with the rest of the apartment community by leaving a comment. Thanks for reading! Good luck!

How to Observe Back-to-School Season for Non-Students-image

This week’s post on Canyon Park Blog is dedicated to helping those who live in our Tacoma, WA community observe back-to-school season — even if you are no longer a student! While you might not be getting ready to go back to class every day, the first week of September is a great time to think about some of your favorite parts of school and learning and figure out how to incorporate them into your current routine. Consider doing one of the following this month:  Read a Nonfiction Book There’s an old adage that says “you learn something new every day.” While that’s more or less true, it can be difficult to get the feeling that you’re actually learning new things when you aren’t in a classroom setting. To help you actively learn something new this upcoming season, we suggest you pick up a nonfiction book from a local library or bookshop on a subject you’re interested in but know nothing about. While it takes more effort to learn without class schedules, deadlines, or teachers, there’s a world of knowledge available to us through books — all we have to do is open the cover and explore! Buy a New Pen  For those in our apartment community who have been out of school for long enough, you may have forgotten the simple yet powerful joy of purchasing a new pen. On top of being a dedicated moment to dispose of a writing utensil that either no longer works or has served its time, getting a new pen often serves as a mini moment of inspiration to stay more organized and accomplish goals. This year, don’t just go for the cheapest option; treat yourself to your favorite type of pen! Do a Creative Project Remember the days when you used to get a list of school supplies before grade school resumed every year? Often, it would include things like watercolors, colored pencils, and markers. If you haven’t exercised the creative side of your brain in a while, back-to-school season is as good a time as any! Whether you pull an old set of paints out of your storage closet and have a casual evening of painting accompanied by your favorite food or drink, or you decide to take on a more hefty project like refinishing furniture or knitting, use the upcoming season as a reminder to create something new. Thanks for reading our post today. Have a happy back-to-school season!
