Do you have any plans for Memorial Day weekend yet? If not, never fear! Canyon Park Blog is here to give you a few ideas. Take advantage of the long weekend by doing one of the following at or near your Puyallup, WA apartment:

Take a Weekend Trip

You have just enough time before the long weekend arrives to plan a weekend trip to a nearby area you’ve been meaning to visit. You might be in the mood to spend most of the weekend in nature doing things like camping and hiking. Instead, you might prefer to find a cozy Airbnb and spend your afternoons exploring the local shops in a small city you’ve never been to before. Whatever you are looking for this weekend, there are plenty of options outside of Puyallup — especially if you act now!

Visit a Graveyard

For some of you, it might be a Memorial Day tradition to visit a graveyard to bring flowers to the graves of relatives and other loved ones, and especially the ones who served our country. If you don’t have any known relatives buried nearby, you might consider bringing flowers to a local cemetery anyway and putting them on the remaining empty headstones in the graveyard. Even if you aren’t able to pay respect to your own relatives, it’s a great opportunity to pay respect to someone else who used to be a member of this wonderful community.

Plan a Picnic

Looking to get together with friends or family? If so, we recommend planning a picnic! You could give everyone a simple food assignment to bring like chips, fruit, or dessert, and then offer to plan the main dish. Rather than going all out, keep it simple; sandwiches always make a tasty picnic food. If you feel comfortable enough around those you have invited, you might consider taking turns telling a story about someone you’re thinking about this Memorial Day. If not, it’s always a safe bet to play some entertaining games instead.

Have a Movie Marathon

Maybe this Memorial Day weekend, you’d just rather stay inside. If this is the case, why not have a movie marathon? Consider picking a theme for your marathon, like 90’s romcoms, Alfred Hitchcock films, or Marvel movies. If you’re in the mood for a variety, pick out what you’d like to watch a few days beforehand so that you won’t have to waste any time deciding when the time comes to curl up on the couch and binge.
