Gifts for Every Love Language-image

Canyon Park Blog is here to help anyone here in our Puyallup, WA apartment community think of some last-minute Valentine’s Day gift ideas that are both creative and thoughtful! Whether you want to give the gift of time, words of affirmation, or service, we’ve got ideas. Take this love language quiz to find out what types of gifts say “I love you” to you. Then, have your valentine take it too! Gifts of Time  This year, give the gift of quality time to your significant other. Clear your calendar and create a plan to spend the day, afternoon, or evening doing activities you know your valentine will enjoy. Silence your cell phone, resist the urge to text, and be there in the moment. It will be one of the best gifts ever.  Words of Affirmation If “words of affirmation” is your significant other’s love language, there are plenty of options for gifts. Create a poem extolling your partner’s strengths. Not a writer? Not to worry! Use one of these form poems and come up with the appropriate descriptive words. An acrostic poem , a shape poem or a diamante are all particularly well suited for this.  Gifts of Touch  Score by giving a gift that speaks to this language, such as a mani-pedi or a couples massage. Another gift would be to simply take a walk and be sure to hold hands or put your arm around your valentine. Top off the walk afterward with a foot rub using peppermint foot lotion.  Gift of Service  For some, nothing says, “I love you” like scrubbing the bathroom or servicing the car. Give the gift of service by putting together a service-focused coupon book for your valentine. Include all the things you know are not on their “I love to do this task” list. It will be the best present ever. Better yet, spend the day completing these tasks and get ready to see how grateful they’ll be when they notice!   Traditional Gifts If your partner enjoys receiving physical gifts best, go all out this year with flowers, chocolates, balloons, and jewelry. Then, follow up throughout the year with surprise gifts for no reason at all. The gifts don’t need to be expensive or over-the-top but do find a way to personalize the gift or the act of giving.    What are you planning for Valentine’s Day? Please share in the comments so we can all have more ideas! Thanks for being a member of our apartment community.

Decorate for Valentine’s Day-image

Infuse your apartment at Canyon Park with some lovely images, textures, and more by decorating it with Valentine’s Day in mind! Today we have ideas for a few Valentine’s Day-themed crafts and decor ideas for you to try in your apartment here in Puyallup, WA. Candy Heart Garland from Tell Love and Party Decorating with a themed garland is a must for any holiday or season: it’s festive, and it’s easy to make and personalize to your tastes. Plus, garlands leave a visual impact, whether you’re going all out and making the elements of it really intricate or you’re going for a more minimalistic route. This particular garland just has you cutting out a bunch of paper hearts, stamping words on them, punching holes into them, and stringing bakers twine through them. Heart Tree from Money Hip Mamas This idea won’t take much out of you — just enough time to pick some branches, find a vase or pitcher, and use a hot glue gun for the assembly. Cut out your own paper hearts or buy some glitter or felt ones to create the look you’re going for. This is a classy and fun way to add just a touch of Valentine’s Day spirit to your apartment. LOVE Wall Art from Momista Beginnings A similar type of project as the previous craft, this fingerpainting-themed craft is perfect for doing with the kids. It also utilizes stencils to let the artist dip their fingers directly in paint and have at it, creating a beautiful masterpiece as they do. What are your favorite ways to decorate for Valentine’s Day or for this time of year in general? Let us know in the comments so we can all get inspired! Thanks for reading. Good luck and have fun crafting. Have a great February.

Furniture Storage Options for Your Apartment-image

Help yourself off to a fresh start this year by organizing your apartment here at Canyon Park in Puyallup, WA! Today on the blog we have a few suggestions for how you can create space in your apartment, all to do with furniture! Read on for some creative options. Bookshelves A bookshelf is a classic way to display not only your books, but also other trinkets and even framed photos or small art that need their own space. There are plenty of ways you can do this, from choosing an interesting, unconventional bookcase that is itself a decoration to mixing up the book placement, arranging the books by color, or adding something natural (like a plant) to a shelf. Design Sponge has 10 homes that get styling a bookshelf right, plus five tips for your own that you can gain inspiration from as you look for creative ways to style your bookshelf so it can hold even more than just books. Ottomans These are great because they (just like the other items on this list) are multi-functional. You can use an ottoman to complete the design of a room, to add space for resting your feet, to add extra seating to a room, and to give you a place to put blankets and pillows you don’t have room to keep on the couch. Wayfair has more than a thousand storage ottoman options you can look through if this sounds suited to your needs and wants. Cabinets and wardrobes Sometimes you have things to store that you don’t necessarily want to display. Cabinets, wardrobes, and even armoires come to the rescue for these types of items. Depending on the style and type of piece, you can also use these furniture options to store things like scrapbooks, DVDs, files, or coats. Overstock has plenty of options for armoires, chests, wardrobes, and shoe cabinets you may enjoy. What are your favorite ways to use furniture or other containers to store your things and create space? Let us know in the comments so we can check them out! Thanks for reading. Good luck organizing. Five Resolutions for the New Year-image

Welcome to 2020! This week, Canyon Park Blog is featuring a few fun New Year’s Resolutions. Setting resolutions, or goals, is a time-honored tradition for the new year; we hope that our suggestions help you set some resolutions this year — or at least spark your imagination about goals you want to complete this year.  Procrastinate Less Many people have a problem with procrastination, putting things off until the last minute and then rushing for the deadline. Make a conscious effort this year to complete your projects long before they are due. Schedule out your projects ahead of time and assign yourself smaller due dates before the final due date. Reward yourself every time you hit a deadline. Getting your work done ahead of time is a little more pleasant if you have something to look forward to along the way.  Say “Thanks” Thanksgiving is over, but that doesn’t mean we have to stop being grateful. Express your gratitude to others through personal notes, emails, and other sincere expressions of thanks. Saying “thank you” can help you make new friends, improve existing relationships, and feel happier in your daily life.  Travel Make an effort to get out of Puyallup sometime next year. You don’t have to travel far or go out of the country for your trip; just rent a room out of town for the weekend, explore a historical site in Washington, or visit a nearby National Park. There are plenty of places right here in Washington to visit. To start, find out all the sites you can explore in your own backyard! Start a Journal Journal writing is a great way to take stock of your life, preserve your memories, and help you become a happier, healthier person. Write every day, every week, or every month. Just remember to update your journal regularly.  Take Your Time  Life moves at a quick pace. It can be easy to get caught up in your responsibilities. Take some time to breathe this year. Instead of stressing about getting the next million things you have to do done, prioritize your to-do list and make some time for rest and relaxation.  We hope that you have a great New Year’s, no matter how or where you’re celebrating in Puyallup, WA!  What are your goals? Feel free to share in the comments so our apartment community can cheer you on! Thanks for reading.
