Canyon Park Blog is here to help anyone here in our Puyallup, WA apartment community think of some last-minute Valentine’s Day gift ideas that are both creative and thoughtful! Whether you want to give the gift of time, words of affirmation, or service, we’ve got ideas. Take this love language quiz to find out what types of gifts say “I love you” to you. Then, have your valentine take it too!

Gifts of Time

This year, give the gift of quality time to your significant other. Clear your calendar and create a plan to spend the day, afternoon, or evening doing activities you know your valentine will enjoy. Silence your cell phone, resist the urge to text, and be there in the moment. It will be one of the best gifts ever.

Words of Affirmation

If “words of affirmation” is your significant other’s love language, there are plenty of options for gifts. Create a poem extolling your partner’s strengths. Not a writer? Not to worry! Use one of these form poems and come up with the appropriate descriptive words. An acrostic poem, a shape poem or a diamante are all particularly well suited for this.

Gifts of Touch

Score by giving a gift that speaks to this language, such as a mani-pedi or a couples massage. Another gift would be to simply take a walk and be sure to hold hands or put your arm around your valentine. Top off the walk afterward with a foot rub using peppermint foot lotion.

Gift of Service

For some, nothing says, “I love you” like scrubbing the bathroom or servicing the car. Give the gift of service by putting together a service-focused coupon book for your valentine. Include all the things you know are not on their “I love to do this task” list. It will be the best present ever. Better yet, spend the day completing these tasks and get ready to see how grateful they’ll be when they notice!

Traditional Gifts

If your partner enjoys receiving physical gifts best, go all out this year with flowers, chocolates, balloons, and jewelry. Then, follow up throughout the year with surprise gifts for no reason at all. The gifts don’t need to be expensive or over-the-top but do find a way to personalize the gift or the act of giving.
