Laundry Day Tips-image

Lost socks, stains in clothes, and still smelly gym clothes. Do any of these sound familiar? Two words: Laundry day. It’s a necessity, but can oftentimes be tedious. The Canyon Park Apartments has some tips so that you  never lose that sock, take out stains, and remove odors for good!   No More Lost Socks   Have you heard of using mesh bags to hold your socks to prevent losing them ? This is a great tip to end the lost sock problem. All you need is an inexpensive mesh wash bag. Visit the local Walmart, Target, or online here . Store all dirty socks in the mesh bag until laundry day comes. Then, simply zip up the bag and throw it in with a load. No more dropping those pesky socks.   Get Rid of Odors   Do you have that pair of socks or your favorite gym shirt that never seems to get rid of that awful smell? Reader’s Digest gives these directions : “First, add ½ cup baking soda to 1 gallon (3.78 litres) water and presoak any smelly washable items for about 2 hours. Then, as you machine-wash them, add ½ cup white vinegar to the rinse cycle.”   Here’s another great tip to combat odors : “Cut the foot off a pair of old panty hose, fill it with baking soda, knot it, and toss this makeshift odour eater into the hamper. Replace the baking soda every month or so.”   Stain Removal   Print out a basic stain removal guide and use it on laundry day; that way you will have the solution you need for stains when you need it. For more in-depth stain removal information, refer to this Stain Solutions Guide , put out by the University of Illinois’ Extension Office.   For more laundry day tips visit these Reader’s Digest or BuzzFeed articles. Travel Tips-image

It’s summertime and that might mean you’re taking a trip in the near future. Whether you’re flying somewhere for vacation or taking a road trip with friends, the Canyon Park Apartments Blog has some great tips to help your trip be successful and memorable.   Packing Tips -Use an online packing list to make sure you don’t forget any important items. You can add and remove items that are or aren’t relevant to you and your trip. Click on the link above for an extensive packing list. For a more simple list, you might like this one .   Road Trip Tips -Take time to clean out and organize your car before heading out on the road. Using a headrest storage hook and a portable trash can will also help to keep things clean and tidy during the trip.   -Give each person in the car a responsibility on the trip. For example, one person will be over navigation, one over driving, and another over taking care of where you’ll sleep or eat meals. You can also rotate these roles as needed.   -Be prepared for any issues that may arise. This may mean getting car problems serviced before heading out. It may also mean having jumper cables, an ice scraper, and other car fluids handy in case of car troubles on the road.   Flying Tips -Have protein-rich snacks with you. These will help you to stay full and keep you happy.   -Wear loose and comfortable fitted clothing. Wearing stiff jeans or a leather jacket may not be the best thing to wear on a long flight.   -Wear layers in order to warm up or cool down. This will also make your flight more comfortable and stress-free.   Memory Tips -Send a postcard to your home address from each place you visit. When you get home, bind them together for a fun and simple keepsake.   -Keep a travel journal with pictures and thoughts. This is also a fun way of keeping those memories alive.   What are your favorite travel tips for getting out of Puyallup, WA? Let us know in the comments below. Thanks for reading!

Meal Prep-image

Hi readers! Last time we shared some ideas for decorating the walls of your home. In today’s post, we’re sharing our thoughts on meal prepping. The idea for doing this is pretty simple: decide what meals you like to have for dinner, grocery shop for those items, make those meals, and divide them individually into small containers to freeze or refrigerate until you’re ready to eat!   It can get kind of complicated when you run out of ideas for things to make, so we’ve got a few ideas here for you.   This honey sesame chicken lunch bowl idea from Sweet Peas and Saffron looks delicious! The author breaks it down simply: “How it all goes down:  cook your rice.  Shake together your sauce.  Cook your veggies.  Then cook your chicken.  Toss chicken in sauce and cook until it thickens slightly. Portion out into four containers.” Easy enough, right? You can also try this idea for freezer breakfast burritos for a meal you can grab on the go.   Early Bird Mom mentions some benefits of meal planning . Here are a few we love:   — Save time: cut back on last minute-trips to the store   — Be less stressed because you’ve got a plan for dinner and you’ve got the right ingredients on hand   — Enjoy the time you spend cooking because you’re not rushed or bored with having the same old meal yet again   — Avoid the anxiety that comes when you don’t have a back-up plan   — Save money: no more wasted food that you bought but never got around to using   — Eat more healthy foods instead of grabbing fast food because you didn’t plan anything for dinner.   — Save time IN the store because you’ll be shopping directly from your list instead of wasting time trying to figure out what to cook.   Enjoy these great ideas. Check back again for more awesome content on our blog. Thanks for reading!
