How To Celebrate Earth Day-image

Earth Day is on March 20th so let’s celebrate here in Puyallup, WA. In today’s Canyon Park Apartments Blog we’ll be sharing a list of suggested activities that you can do on Earth Day to celebrate. We hope you have a great month!   Spend time outside. One of the best ways that you can enjoy Earth Day is by simply being outside in nature and taking advantage of its beauty.   Buy a houseplant. Houseplants will purify your air and beauty your apartment. Find one that would work well in your living environment.   Ride your bike. Eliminate the exhaust in the air by riding your bike to work or wherever else you’re heading out today.   Use a refillable water bottle. Plastic water bottles can create a lot of waste in our environment. Opt for using a refillable water bottle instead.   Pick up litter. Take some time to pick up trash around our community. Even 30 minutes of this can make a big difference.   Start recycling. Recycling is one way that you can help out the environment. If you don’t already recycle, start by using two garbage cans in your kitchen: one for recyclable items and one for everything else.   Turn off the TV. Along with spending time outside, choose to turn off the TV or other electronics. Get outside and enjoy some fresh air.   Go paperless. Start paying all of your bills online — at least the ones that allow you to do so. This can help the environment by eliminating waste and the need for paper.   Volunteer. Take some time to help out the community by volunteering. Whether that’s outside or not, do something for someone else and make the world a better place.   Update your lightbulbs. Throw out your old incandescent light bulbs and use something that’s more environment-friendly such as LEDs or Compact Fluorescent light bulbs.   Build a birdhouse. Give back to the earth by feeding the wildlife. Make a birdhouse or buy one from a local store. Fill it with food and enjoy watching the birds come visit you.   How do you celebrate Earth Day? Get reading this month here in Puyallup, WA. In today’s Canyon Park Apartments Blog, we have a list of books that we think you’ll enjoy. Check out these books, find one you like, and enjoy a quiet afternoon of reading at your apartment.   Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl (1946) “Psychiatrist Viktor Frankl's memoir has riveted generations of readers with its descriptions of life in Nazi death camps and its lessons for spiritual survival. Between 1942 and 1945 Frankl labored in four different camps, including Auschwitz, while his parents, brother, and pregnant wife perished. Based on his own experience and the experiences of others he treated later in his practice, Frankl argues that we cannot avoid suffering but we can choose how to cope with it, find meaning in it, and move forward with renewed purpose.”   Ulysses by James Joyce (1922) “The revised edition follows the complete and unabridged text of ULYSSES as corrected and reset in 1961. Like the first American edition of 1934, it also contains the original foreword by the author and the historic court ruling by Judge John M. Woolsey to remove the federal ban on ULYSSES. It also contains page references to the 1934 edition, which are indicated in the margins”   The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams (1979) “Seconds before Earth is demolished to make way for a galactic freeway, Arthur Dent is plucked off the planet by his friend Ford Prefect, a researcher for the revised edition of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy who, for the last fifteen years, has been posing as an out-of-work actor.”   The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini (2003) “A sweeping story of family, love, and friendship told against the devastating backdrop of the history of Afghanistan over the last thirty years, The Kite Runner is an unusual and powerful novel that has become a beloved, one-of-a-kind classic.”   What books are on your to-read list?
