Korean BBQ Near Puyallup-image

I dont know about you, but from time to time I find myself getting stuck on a particular type of food for months at a time. It started with pho in the winter of 2009; I must have eaten that delicious, noodley broth three times a week over a 4 month period. I went through a similar phase the next year with curry, and again with mole. Lately, though, my reason for getting out of bed in the morning is Korean BBQ! If youre in the mood for some Galbi (shortribs) or Samgyuopsal-gui (pork belly) head to one of these restaurants in Puyallup and the surrounding areas. Cham Garden Korean BBQ is almost universally recommended if you are new to Korean BBQ. The staff there can help you with ordering and even assembling lettuce wraps if youre having a particularly hard time. Plus, its a buffet, so you wont leave hungry. Chung Ki Wa is a great place to go if youre dining with a group. Their spacious booths provide ample seating for larger parties. Palace BBQ is one of the better buffet-style Korean BBQ joints in town. Not only that, but their anchovy banchan is incredible (if youre into that sort of thing, of course). Gangnam BBQ is the place to go if youre trying to impress someone, as theyve got the nicest dining room of them all. Pro tip: If possible, take a seat on the side of the grill for a front row view of the cooking action! This list only scratches the surface of fine Korean dining available to those in the Puyallup area, but it is far from comprehensive. If we left out your favorite, be sure to tell us about it in the comments below!

Whitewater in Puyallup-image

When the temperature rises the best thing you can do is get near the water. The pool at Canyon Park is great for a lazy dip on a hot day, but what if you want something a little more you dont have to go far. With the Puyallup River just a few miles from your front door you have easy access to some of the best whitewater in the area! The Puyallup River offers just over 6 miles of class I-II rapids in Pierce County alone, with many more in other parts of the river system. Whether you are going by kayak or raft, these lower level rapids make it a great choice for a fun exciting day out on the water without doing anything too crazy. If youre looking for a little more of an adrenaline rush, and are willing to drive a little further, Head up to north to the Skagit for class II-III, or go down south to the Tieton River for some class III-IV. Obviously, whitewater rafting is dangerous, so only attempt these more difficult areas if you have the knowledge and expertise to do so. If you dont have your own raft (I know, its hard to believe, but not everybody has a $5,000 inflatable whitewater raft in their gear closet) you can still get out on the river with a guide company. Wildwater River Guides and Blue Sky Outfitters specialize in providing safe and exhilarating experience for people of all experience levels. Whether you are rafting, kayaking or just floating in a tube, spending time on the river is one of the best ways to beat the heat during summer. Lucky for you, you live in the perfect place to do it. So get out there, get wet and have a good time. And above all, be safe out there.
