Ways to Show Gratitude-image

Since Thanksgiving is at the end of November, you have a whole month to express your gratitude. Think about your friends and family and how they’ve impacted your lives then consider how you can give thanks and express gratitude. In this week’s Canyon Park Apartments Blog, we’ve got a few suggestions on ways you can show your gratitude.   Write a Letter In the days of emails and instant messaging, writing a letter can seem old-fashioned and a waste of time, but it’s a great way of showing thanks. Before you start writing, think of someone that you wish to thank and list out the reasons why you wish to thank them. As you write, be genuine and heartfelt. Expressing emotions through writing can be difficult, so use specific language and experiences to enhance the impact of your letter. If you’re writing to a friend or family member living far from you, mail the letter! If they live close by, you can attach the letter to a small gift and give it to them personally.   A Gratitude Journal Do you forget things often? We suggest keeping a gratitude journal to take note of things that you are grateful for. You can write one thing per day or work your way up to writing two or three. Don’t feel pressured to write down deep thoughts or huge blessings. Writing in a gratitude journal can help you see the little things to be thankful for in your life.   Small Gifts Some people are appreciative of words of thanks, but others respond better to gifts! Getting small gifts can show your friends and family how much you mean to them through a thoughtful selection of said gifts. These gifts don’t need to be extravagant, but significant enough that they feel appreciated!   Do you have any ways you like to show gratitude? Let our Puyallup, WA apartment community know by leaving a comment!

Looking for things to do this holiday season? Here at Canyon Park apartments in Puyallup, WA, you are never far from the action. There are countless options for entertainment not far from your front door. Whether you want to hunt, give back to the environment or just refresh your understanding of literature there is bound to be something fun for you to do right around the corner. Are you looking to do something you have never done before? If you head down to Skookum Archers Club and Range, just a few miles east on 39th Ave SE, you can stop by and join one of their drop in archery classes held every Thursday night at 6:00. Bundle up, because it gets chilly this time of year, but be sure not to wear clothing that is too bulky as it can impede your shooting. Braving the cold is well worth it though; $5 gets you access to an archery safety class as well as a bow and arrows to shoot. Openings are filled on a first come, first served basis so get out there early to get your name on the list. Perhaps you are somewhat of an outdoorsy individual and would prefer to do something a little more environmentally conscious with your time. The Tacoma Nature Center has regular opportunities for volunteers to get together and help their community. Most recently, on December 20, volunteers got together to help with the Nature Centers wetland habitat restoration project. You will have to fill out some paperwork in order to volunteer but once you are approved you are good to go and can help out at any of the Tacoma Nature Center restoration projects. Wetlands are among the most crucial habitats in our community due to the wide variety of life they support. Habitat restoration in these, and other natural areas, is an excellent way to make a positive difference. Do you love to read? Or maybe you just have a fondness for literature? Next year, author James Kennedy is bringing the 90 second Newberry Film Festival to Tacoma! The 90 Second Newberry is a film festival in which contestants recreate the story of a Newbery award winning book in a 90 second video. These shorts, produced almost entirely by children and teenagers, offer a creative and often hilarious interpretation of many of the books we have come to know and love. If you or your children would like to participate in this event, head up to the Main Library on December 20th at 4PM for an informative meeting regarding submission rules and guidelines; then you can get to work on your submission! As you can see, there is no shortage of entertainment close at hand when you live at Canyon Park. These Tacoma, WA, apartments for rent are centrally located, giving you the perfect balance of city and suburban life. Now what are you waiting for? Get out there and explore!
