Video games have taken the world by storm over the years, with many different video game consoles coming out. A plethora of games are released each year or teased at video game conventions like E3. Video gaming has evolved from a past time into a global phenomenon, especially with the rise of competitive eSports. In this week’s Canyon Park Apartments Blog, we’re going to share with you some games that you can play at your apartment to get you started into the hobby of video gaming!

Portal

If you enjoy puzzles, you’re going to enjoy Portal. This game combines the first person shooter interface of video gaming with puzzle solving to create a thoroughly enjoyable game for everyone, especially beginners. You don’t have to worry about fighting off hordes of monsters, but it will require you to use your problem solving skills! Work your way through the test chambers of the Aperture Science Enrichment Center and claim your prize at the end!

The Legend of Zelda

There are many games in this series that span different consoles, but this high-fantasy game follows the adventures of Link, who is usually given the task of rescuing Princess Zelda. Whether you’re a beginner or not, you will be able to grasp the play mechanics of these games pretty quickly! Immerse yourself in the story, battle, and exploration of these beautifully created games. Many gamers gained their love for gaming through these games, so it might happen to you too!

Heroes of the Storm

The previous two games were games for solo players. Heroes of the Storm, however, relies wholly on online play between players or bots (bots are Artificial Intelligence used in games to act like other players). Heroes of the Storm is a quick multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game that derives its characters from the gaming megacorporation Blizzard Entertainment. Heroes of the Storm is a good introduction into the world of competitive gaming and eSports, as the gameplay style is heavily team-based and the duration per game is shorter, on average, than other similar games.

Each of these games has their own unique game mechanics and nuances, but we encourage anyone who hasn’t played video games before to try them! You’ll never know how much you enjoy something until you try it! If you’ve played video games before, do you have a favorite?
