Tips for the Sauna/Spa

Every so often, it’s okay to pamper yourself. Do so by heading down to our Puyallup, WA apartment community sauna and spa and enjoying a day of relaxation. In this week’s Canyon Park Apartments Blog, we’ve got a few tips for you on how you can make full use of the sauna and spa available to residents.

Dress Appropriately

This may seem like a no-brainer, but dressing appropriately can help you have a better experience at the sauna and spa. Wear a swimsuit into the sauna so you can prepare yourself to sweat. Appropriate attire can help you be fully immersed in introspection and relaxation. Be aware of the spa rules on dress code and stick to that for yours and other residents’ sake.

Shower

Taking a shower removes any chemicals and particles from the surface of your skin that would hinder the experience. Take a shower and get all the makeup, perfumes, dirt, and oils off your body before heading into the sauna. Doing so will help you to de-stress and focus on the experience you’ll have in the heat!

Cool Down/Rest

After you’ve sat in the sauna for a good chunk of time, remember that the heat can have adverse effects on your body if you’re not careful. Your body will be sweating and your heart will be pounding from the heat so be aware of your body before you faint! Avoid harmful side effects by taking a break from the sauna and cool off by taking a cool shower. If you imagine time in the sauna as an exercise (since your body exhibits the same effects), you’re going to need time to cool down to bring your pulse down.
