Showing Some Local Love to Mother Earth

Showing Some Local Love to Mother EarthApril is home to an entire day that celebrates the earth, and even a day dedicated to planting trees in cities and parks. So it shouldnt come as much of a surprise that there are plenty of ways in the community to get involved and help keep things as clean and preserved as they deserve to be. Below, weve highlighted a few of the different ways residents of our Canyon Park apartments in Puyallup can spend some time with nature. Earth Day Extravaganza Saturday, April 16th, 12PM 4PM Tacoma Nature Center is providing this event, for anyone and everyone ages five and up, as an opportunity to get to know the different ways you can take care of the environment and community around you and beyond. Youll learn to be a better steward to our surroundings in big and small everyday ways. For the uninitiated, the nature center in town is a seventy-one acre nature preserve that encompasses and includes Snake Lake, wetlands, and forest areas. Expect to learn more about local birds, plants, and other animals, including an observation beehive. You can get more details about the event here and learn more about the nature center over here. Parks Appreciation Day Saturday, April 23rd, 9AM 12PM Do something good for the earth is the tagline for this event, and the draw this annual community event has from year to year supports that guiding mantra in impressive ways. On average, thousands of volunteers show up on this day to help give a much-needed makeover to local parks. Whether its trimming tree limbs, combing local beaches, or planting fresh new flowers and trees, any effort here makes a difference throughout the year in protecting nature and helping preserve its beauty that adds so much to the aesthetic and approachable nature of all of Pierce County. Volunteer groups of nine or fewer can show up at the beginning of the event to register, but any groups of ten or more should plan on pre-registering so different parks can plan accordingly. You can find more information about the event and which cities are participating over here.
