Oktoberfest in Puyallup

September is nearing its end and October is just around the corner. That means the time is here to enjoy an annual event celebrated all around the world: Oktoberfest! And as luck would have it, residents of our Canyon Park apartments here in Puyallup are just around the corner from Oktoberfest Northwest, one of the largest Oktoberfest celebrations in the western United States. It runs October 7th through the 9th at the Washington Events Center. Here’s some information on the event from its website:

Oktoberfest Northwest hosts Western Washington's largest Munich-style Festhalle Biergarten and is the Northwest's exclusive home of Hammerschlagen®. For the past 11 years, Oktoberfest NW has brought authentic food, bier and entertainment to its guests. Prost with the best at Oktoberfest Northwest!

The Stein Dash: 5Ks are fun. Beer is fun. 5Ks & Beer are typically not a natural pairing….typically. However, on Sunday October 9th, the best of both worlds collide for the second annual STEIN DASH – and this year will again be EXCITING, for sure!

Hammerschlagen®: In 2005, we introduced Hammerschlagen® to the Pacific Northwest. It quickly became one of the most addicting bar games in the region and now you could call it “a PNW past time.” The goal is to drive a nail into a cross section of wood faster than your opponents. Easy you say? Well then, we will see you at Oktoberfest Northwest 2016 to see if you actually have what it takes.

Dining: Coming to Oktoberfest Northwest means plenty of dancing, drinking… and eating!

Festhalle Main Stage: Entertainment from noon till almost midnight! Here at Oktoberfest Northwest, the party doesn't stop! Starting at noon each day and late into the night, you can find amazing music and entertainment to get you into the Oktoberfest spirit. You can get plucky with the traditional Chicken Dance or dance the night away to our outstanding line up of German-style musicians with a little bit of polka-rock flair!

Weiner Dog Races: Daschunds of all shapes and sizes (well okay, all sizes... but probably just the one shape) will compete in various races and competitions.

Family Fest Zone & Kinderfest: Kids’ activities include a root bier garden, a scavenger hunt, free pumpkin decorating, free face painting, an authentic May pole dance, arts and crafts projects with the Tacoma German Language School, Family Day Sunday, Manuela Horn’s Kinderfest Show, and games like kids Hammerschlagen, corn hole toss, and more!
