Dress for the Summer (Women)

Dressing for the summer is essential for men and women, and since we covered how men can dress for summer in our previous post for the Canyon Park Apartments Blog, this week we’re sharing with you ways women can dress to stay cool during the summer here in Puyallup, WA.

Layering

Layering is a great thing, but unfortunately, the summer heat isn’t kind to those who like to do so. Going light on the layers makes it easier for the breeze and air to flow through your clothing, keeping you cooler during the heat. Keeping it simple is the name of the game in the summer, and it’s good practice to find ways to simplifying while still looking stylish! If you do wish to layer, remember to buy fabrics that are lighter and more breathable.

Skirts and Dresses

Flowy skirts and dresses are a lady’s best friend in the summer. Not only are skirts light, they don’t have pant legs that will restrict you and hold heat in! Try to find dresses and skirts that are a lighter fabric like linen, cotton, or chiffon. Try to stay away from the form-fitting dresses, as the contact with skin is more likely to cause you to sweat and retain heat. Instead, look for loose fitting dresses that still give you the shape you love. With an outfit that involves a dress, you’re not only going to be cool, but you’re going to look amazing as well!

Accessories

Don’t underestimate the power of accessories! Sunglasses and a hat are the staple additions to a summer outfit, and they work wonders! Opt for a hat with a wide floppy brim for a look that is not only stylish, but functional as well! Hats keep the sun out of your eyes, and the right hat will keep your head cool, as it promotes airflow as well. Sunglasses, on the other hand, will make you look cool while protecting your eyes from the brightness of the sun that could burn your retinas.
